9/27/11 Community Themes and Strengths Assessment Subcommittee Meeting Minutes

Identified Themes and strengths:
  • Volunteerism
  • Cultural and recreational opportunities
  • Strong sense of community
  • Nature/environment
  • Quality educational infrastructure;  including optional programs
  • Health and social services available
  • Diversity of jobs available
  • Affordable energy (hydropower)
  • Large percentage of population votes (statistic was first cited as 87% of population, then a 66% citation found
 Identified Needs:
  • Quality Childcare
  • Affordable housing
  • Better Mental Health Services
  • Healthy relationships
  • Youth activities
  • Access to health care
  • Transportation –(still some discussion/uncertainty whether this is an identified need)
  • Employment opportunities/equal pay for equal work
  • Substance abuse prevention and treatment
Our next step:
·  How are we going to present this to the community?
